A devastating act of gun violence unfolded in Federal Way, Washington, on the night of Wednesday, May 14, 2025, claiming the life of a teenage boy and critically injuring a young child. The incident occurred shortly before 10:00 p.m. at an apartment complex located off Southwest Campus Drive, a residential area in the south King County city.

Federal Way Police Department officers responded swiftly to multiple reports of gunfire and a suspicious vehicle seen fleeing the area. Upon arrival, officers found a male teenager unresponsive in the apartment complex parking lot. A nearby resident had already begun CPR, and emergency responders from local fire and medical services quickly took over resuscitation efforts. Unfortunately, despite these life-saving attempts, the teenager succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities also confirmed that a child was among the victims of the shooting. The child, whose age and identity have not been publicly disclosed, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle in critical condition. As of the latest update, their condition remains serious. Officials have not released information about the relationship between the victims or whether they were known to the suspect or suspects.

At this time, no arrests have been made, and police have yet to disclose any suspects or potential motives. The Federal Way Police Department is actively investigating the case and is seeking public assistance. Detectives are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby residences and businesses, as well as interviewing witnesses who may have seen or heard anything suspicious in the moments leading up to the shooting.

This tragic event marks the third fatal shooting in Federal Way in 2025, underscoring ongoing concerns about gun violence in communities across the region. Local leaders and residents are calling for a thorough investigation and justice for the victims, as well as renewed efforts to prevent further violence.

The Federal Way Police Department is urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward. Witnesses or those with relevant tips are asked to call (253) 835-2121. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through local crime reporting channels.

As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of a young life and prays for the recovery of the injured child. Law enforcement agencies remain committed to bringing those responsible to justice and ensuring safety for all residents of Federal Way.
