The Capitol Hill Community Council (CHCC) is preparing for its 2025 election, offering community members the opportunity to vote for representatives who will help shape the future of the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Seattle. The election is set for May 28, 2025, and with six candidates running for seven available seats, casting a vote is not only an easy choice but also a vital way to support the ongoing revitalization of the CHCC.

The council has recently undergone a significant transformation to strengthen its role in advocating for the needs of the Capitol Hill community. This election marks an important moment in this renewed effort, as the newly elected council members will play an essential role in guiding the group toward its goals. The voting process for the election will utilize ranked-choice voting, allowing members to rank their preferences for candidates. This approach ensures that every vote is meaningful, and it is designed to capture a fairer reflection of the community’s desires for representation. The top four vote-getters will serve full two-year terms, while the next three will be elected for one-year terms, creating a staggered election cycle that encourages both continuity and fresh perspectives within the council.

Candidates running for a position on the council must meet specific requirements to be eligible, including being a registered voter in the Capitol Hill area, at least 16 years old by the election date, and not holding any current elected public office positions. In a move to foster greater inclusivity and participation, candidates are required to register in advance to appear on the ballot.

Voting will take place electronically from May 21 through 7:30 PM on May 28, providing a convenient option for voters who wish to cast their ballots ahead of the in-person voting opportunity. The in-person voting will occur during the election day party at Seattle Central College, located at Room 1111/1110, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM. For those unable to attend the event in person, the meeting will be available virtually via Zoom, ensuring that all members can participate regardless of their location.

This election is an important opportunity for Capitol Hill residents to have their voices heard in shaping the future of the community. By participating, voters can contribute to the continued growth and success of the Capitol Hill Community Council, which has long played a pivotal role in advocating for local issues, organizing events, and ensuring that the neighborhood thrives for generations to come.

For those interested in learning more about the election process or registering to vote, more information is available on the official Capitol Hill Community Council website. This election serves as a reminder of the importance of local engagement and offers residents the chance to have a direct impact on their neighborhood’s development.

By supporting this election, Capitol Hill residents can actively contribute to the betterment of the area, ensuring that the council reflects the needs and desires of the local community while also fostering a sense of unity and progress in one of Seattle’s most dynamic neighborhoods.
