Enumclaw High School has implemented increased security measures following a late-night break-in involving three masked individuals, one of whom was visibly armed with a handgun.

The incident occurred on Saturday, May 31, just before 10:00 p.m. Surveillance footage captured the suspects moving through the school grounds. According to Enumclaw Police Chief Tim Floyd, one individual appeared to be filming the group while another carried a firearm.

“It seems to us that maybe they were rehearsing for an active shooter event,” Floyd told KIRO Newsradio.

“The way they were moving about the building — with one subject holding a gun and another filming — it seemed like reconnaissance.”

The suspects fled the building by 10:04 p.m., shortly after law enforcement arrived on the scene. No property was stolen or damaged during the incident.

While there was no immediate threat identified, police and school officials are treating the behavior seriously due to its calculated nature. As a precaution, the Enumclaw School District has partnered with law enforcement to increase patrol presence around the high school and review current safety protocols.

The Enumclaw Police Department is continuing its investigation and has asked the public to share any information that could help identify the suspects. Tips can be submitted anonymously at enumtips.com or by calling (360) 615-5707.

This incident underscores ongoing concerns about school safety and the evolving challenges educational institutions face in preventing potential threats.
