A serious head-on crash has brought eastbound traffic on State Route 900 to a standstill near Tukwila early Wednesday morning, prompting significant travel disruptions in the area.

In addition to the SR 900 closure, the southbound Interstate 5 off-ramp to Martin Luther King Jr. Way is currently blocked, compounding congestion for commuters.

According to Washington State Patrol spokesperson Trooper Rick Johnson, the collision resulted in major injuries. He shared initial reports of the incident on social media around 6:30 a.m.

Emergency responders from both the Washington State Patrol and the Department of Transportation’s Incident Response Team remain on the scene, working to manage traffic and investigate the crash.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use alternate routes, as delays are expected throughout the morning.
