A serious collision early Friday morning led to the complete closure of State Route 410 in both directions between Sumner and Bonney Lake, as investigators look into the possibility of impaired driving.

According to the Washington State Patrol, the crash happened near Ehli Hill when a westbound pickup truck lost control and slammed into a concrete median. The impact sent the truck across the barrier and into oncoming lanes.

An eastbound motorcyclist then collided with the barrier in the aftermath. Authorities say the rider suffered serious injuries but is expected to survive.

The driver of the pickup was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and vehicular assault.

Washington State Patrol Trooper John Dattilo said the highway will remain closed for an extended period while investigators document the scene and crews work to clear the wreckage.

As of 6:22 a.m., all lanes of SR 410 were still blocked. Drivers are advised to find alternate routes and expect significant delays in the area.
