A Pierce County man reported missing earlier this week has been found dead following what authorities described as an ATV crash.

The Pierce County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 53-year-old Ronald Roemer was reported missing on the afternoon of Aug. 6 to South Sound 911. Search and rescue teams began combing the Tehaleh area of Bonney Lake, where Roemer was last seen riding his ATV. Officials noted he was diabetic and did not have his insulin with him at the time.

According to the sheriff’s office, Roemer was discovered late Thursday night, around 10:19 p.m., having died from an accident while operating the vehicle. County officials extended condolences, saying their thoughts were with Roemer’s family and friends.

Authorities have not released additional details about the crash.
