A man was hospitalized in serious condition Monday night after being stabbed in Seattle’s Green Lake neighborhood, with the suspect still at large as police continue their investigation.

Seattle police responded at 9:43 p.m. to reports of a stabbing near Weedin Place Northeast and Northeast 68th Street, under an overpass. Officers found an adult man with stab wounds to the neck and arm and immediately provided medical aid until Seattle Fire Department medics arrived.

The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he remains in serious condition. The suspect fled the scene before police arrival and has not been located despite ongoing search efforts.

Detectives with the Seattle Police Department’s Homicide and Assault Unit have taken over the investigation due to the serious nature of the assault. The specialized unit handles cases involving life-threatening injuries and violent crimes throughout the city.

The incident occurred in an area popular with Green Lake visitors, including joggers, walkers, and cyclists who use the nearby trail system. The overpass location provided the attacker with multiple escape routes and limited visibility.

Police are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to contact the Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Witness accounts and any surveillance footage from the area may prove crucial in identifying the suspect and understanding the circumstances of the attack.

The investigation remains active as detectives work to locate the suspect and determine what led to the violent encounter in the popular recreational area.
