Federal Way police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred Monday morning at the Shores Apartments in the 31800 block of 3rd Place Southwest.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire on August 18 and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound. Despite lifesaving efforts by emergency responders, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police confirmed Wednesday afternoon that the shooting suspect is now in custody. They have not released details about the circumstances leading to the arrest or the relationship between the suspect and victim.

The investigation into the shooting remains ongoing as detectives work to determine the motive and circumstances surrounding the fatal encounter. Federal Way police have not disclosed additional information about charges or the suspect’s identity.

The quick arrest, occurring just two days after the shooting, suggests investigators had substantial evidence or witness information that helped identify the suspect. The Shores Apartments complex sits in a residential area of Federal Way where the incident prompted immediate community safety concerns.

Federal Way police continue gathering evidence and witness statements as they build their case related to the fatal shooting. The ongoing investigation indicates that while a suspect has been apprehended, significant work remains to support prosecution efforts.
