Renton police arrested a suspect in connection with a stabbing that left a man with serious throat injuries outside a popular bar Sunday evening.
Emergency responders arrived shortly after 9:30 p.m. following reports of a stabbing near JP’s Barroom on Williams Avenue. The victim entered the establishment seeking help after the attack, which allegedly followed a verbal altercation.
The suspect fled the scene in a black convertible, travelling southbound on Williams Avenue. Officers located and apprehended the individual near the South Renton Park & Ride by Grady Way South.
The victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center in serious condition. Medical staff are treating injuries described as significant but not immediately life-threatening, according to emergency responders.
Police have not disclosed the motive behind the attack or the nature of the verbal altercation that preceded the stabbing. The investigation continues as detectives interview witnesses and review potential surveillance footage from the area.
JP’s Barroom sits along a busy commercial corridor where weekend evening activity typically draws crowds to nearby restaurants and entertainment venues. The incident occurred during peak nightlife hours when foot traffic is generally heaviest in the area.
