A 32-year-old man suspected of involvement in an Aurora Avenue shooting crashed his vehicle outside Harborview Medical Center on Monday afternoon, suffering a gunshot wound to his leg.
Seattle Police Department officers initially responded around 1 p.m. to reports of gunfire in the 12500 block of Aurora Avenue North near Jack in the Box. Officers discovered blood on the ground and multiple shell casings but found no victims at the scene, as those involved had fled before police arrival.
Investigators processed the shooting location and collected evidence during their preliminary investigation. Shortly afterwards, SPD received notification of a vehicle crash at the emergency room ramp outside Harborview Medical Center.
Police found the driver on the ground outside his damaged vehicle in serious condition with a gunshot wound to his leg. Medical staff transported him into the hospital on a gurney for treatment.
Officers seized a gun holster from the wounded man and recovered a handgun from inside his vehicle. The car, which showed bullet damage to the passenger side, was towed to the police vehicle processing facility for forensic examination.
SPD investigators believe the man is connected to the earlier Aurora Avenue shooting incident. The sequence of events suggests he may have been wounded during the initial confrontation before driving to the hospital for medical assistance.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain under investigation. Police have not disclosed whether additional suspects are involved or what prompted the initial confrontation near the fast-food restaurant.
The incident highlights ongoing violence along the Aurora Avenue corridor, an area that has experienced frequent criminal activity including shootings, drug dealing, and prostitution. The proximity to Harborview Medical Center meant the wounded suspect received rapid medical attention despite the serious nature of his injuries.

The case demonstrates how shooting incidents can evolve rapidly, with suspects sometimes becoming victims and requiring emergency medical treatment whilst remaining subjects of criminal investigation.
