A 15-year-old boy was arrested Saturday on attempted murder charges following a domestic disturbance that escalated into a knife attack at a Long Beach residence.

Pacific County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the scene at approximately 12:35 p.m. after receiving reports of a violent confrontation between the teen and an adult man.

Witnesses reported the incident began as a verbal argument before the juvenile armed himself with a kitchen knife and pursued the victim outside the home. The teen made several attempts to stab the man but was prevented from causing injury when bystanders intervened and successfully disarmed him.

Deputies arrived shortly after the confrontation ended and took the suspect into custody without further incident. No injuries were reported to the victim or intervening bystanders.

The boy was subsequently booked into a juvenile detention facility on charges of first-degree attempted murder.

The case highlights the serious nature of domestic violence incidents involving juveniles and the potential for rapid escalation from verbal disputes to life-threatening situations. The intervention by bystanders prevented what could have been a fatal outcome.

Pacific County authorities have not disclosed the relationship between the teen and the victim or the circumstances that led to the initial argument. The domestic nature of the incident suggests the parties were known to each other.

The first-degree attempted murder charge indicates prosecutors believe the attack was premeditated rather than occurring in the heat of passion, though juvenile court proceedings will ultimately determine the specific charges and potential consequences.
