Seattle police arrested a stabbing suspect Wednesday evening after following a blood trail to a sixth-floor apartment building, where the man had called 911 claiming he was attacked on a bus.
Officers responded at approximately 7:45 p.m. to reports of a stabbing near 7th Avenue and Denny Way, finding a man collapsing in front of a patrol car with multiple stab wounds. Police provided first aid until Seattle Fire Department medics transported the victim to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition despite life-threatening injuries.
Investigators determined the stabbing followed a physical altercation between two men, with the suspect fleeing before police arrival. Officers searching the area discovered a blood trail leading to an apartment building in the 100 block of Dexter Avenue North.
A contact team traced the blood to a sixth-floor hallway, where officers located the suspect after he called 911 requesting medical assistance. The 35-year-old man claimed he had been attacked on a bus but was arrested without incident.
He is expected to be booked into King County Jail for investigation of assault.
