A deadly shooting in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District Monday evening left one man dead and another hospitalized with serious injuries, according to the Seattle Police Department.

The shooting occurred around 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Avenue South and South Lane Street, prompting immediate police response to the scene.

Officers discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds upon arrival. Despite life-saving efforts by emergency responders, the victim died from his injuries at the scene.

A second victim was found with a gunshot wound to his leg and received medical treatment before being transported to Harborview Medical Center for further care.

Seattle police have not released the identities of either victim or provided details about potential motives for the shooting. No suspects are currently in custody, and authorities have not indicated whether the shooting was targeted or random.

The incident occurred in the heart of the Chinatown-International District, a culturally significant neighborhood that has experienced periodic violence in recent years. The intersection where the shooting took place is located in a mixed residential and commercial area.

Police are actively seeking witnesses who may have observed the shooting or suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident. Investigators are also requesting surveillance footage from nearby businesses and residences that might provide crucial evidence.

The Seattle Police Department’s Homicide Unit has taken over the investigation as detectives work to establish the circumstances surrounding the double shooting.

Community members and local business owners expressed concern about violence in the neighborhood, which serves as a cultural hub for Asian American communities in Seattle.

The shooting adds to Seattle’s 2025 homicide statistics as the city continues efforts to address gun violence through enhanced police presence and community intervention programs.

Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact the Seattle Police Department’s tip line or speak directly with homicide detectives handling the case.

The Chinatown-International District has seen increased security measures in recent years following previous violent incidents, though Monday’s shooting demonstrates ongoing public safety challenges in the area.
