Seattle police arrested a 22-year-old man Saturday morning following an armed robbery at a downtown convenience store that involved stolen beer and ice cream and an assault on an employee.

The incident occurred around 1:10 a.m. in the 800 block of 3rd Avenue when the man, armed with a gun, and a female accomplice stole items from the 7-Eleven store.

As the pair attempted to leave, the woman allegedly assaulted an employee with a dog leash to prevent him from recovering the stolen merchandise. The suspects briefly left before returning, with the woman chasing the employee and causing damage inside the store.

The suspects fled with a large white dog before police arrived. A Real Time Crime Center analyst used community space cameras to locate the suspects nearby, providing officers with images and direction of travel.

Police apprehended the man in the 600 block of South King Street after a “brief scuffle,” recovering a gun and a can of beer. The woman escaped.

The man was booked into King County Jail on charges of robbery, unlawful carry of a pistol, and obstructing a law enforcement officer. The Robbery Unit will handle the investigation.

The arrest demonstrates the Real Time Crime Center’s role in supporting patrol officers through surveillance camera monitoring and real-time suspect tracking. The center, which opened in Seattle police headquarters in 2024, consolidates video feeds and data to assist ongoing investigations.

The incident occurred in an area of downtown Seattle that has experienced elevated property crime rates, prompting increased patrol presence and surveillance infrastructure.
