A man and a woman were found dead with apparent gunshot wounds inside a Spanaway home Thursday night, with a 14-year-old also present during the shooting, according to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to the home in the area of 8th Avenue East and Mountain Highway East, said Carly Cappetto, PCSO public information officer. Inside the home, deputies found the man and woman with apparent gunshot wounds.

Deputies could not confirm how or if the people are related, Cappetto said. Deputies are investigating the incident as a homicide and authorities are not searching for any suspects, Cappetto said.

The presence of a 14-year-old during the shooting raises questions about whether the incident represents a domestic violence situation, murder-suicide, or other circumstances. The lack of a suspect search suggests investigators believe all parties involved in the shooting are accounted for.

Pierce County Sheriff’s Office detectives will examine the scene to determine the sequence of events, relationship between the victims, and whether additional individuals were present. The investigation will include forensic analysis, witness interviews, and review of any 911 calls or communications preceding the incident.

The 8th Avenue East and Mountain Highway East area is a residential section of Spanaway, an unincorporated community in Pierce County south of Tacoma.
