An 18-year-old man was arrested Sunday evening following a drive-by shooting in South Seattle that triggered a brief high-speed pursuit before the suspect surrendered to police.

Officers responded to reports of gunfire near the 3000 block of South Brighton Street. A police sergeant quickly located the suspect vehicle, which fled at high speed when officers attempted a stop. The pursuit moved from the New Holly neighborhood toward Beacon Avenue South and South Webster Street before the driver pulled over and was arrested without incident.

Police recovered shell casings from the vehicle and believe the gun remains inside. The car was transported to the Vehicle Processing Room for additional evidence collection. No one was injured and no property was damaged in the shooting.

The teenager was booked into King County Jail on charges of drive-by shooting and eluding a police vehicle. The incident marks another in a series of gun-related arrests in South Seattle neighborhoods that have seen increased violence in recent months.
