Seattle police arrested a 29-year-old man Saturday morning after he destroyed a Harborview Medical Center trauma room, started a fire, and assaulted multiple hospital staff members.
Officers responded at 10:15 a.m. to the downtown Seattle hospital where the man had overturned equipment and thrown objects throughout the room while fighting with nurses and security guards. Staff restrained him after he broke an oxygen valve and ignited medical equipment in a bucket, creating an explosion risk as uncontrolled oxygen flowed into the room.
The man had arrived at Harborview the previous night seeking treatment for wrist injuries. After receiving care and being cleared to leave, he became violent. Police said he threw objects at staff, spat on workers, and kicked nurses and guards. He also fashioned a noose from plastic tubing and made threats against himself.

Hospital staff estimated damages exceeding $100,000. The man faces multiple charges including assault, arson, property destruction, and interference with a healthcare facility.
Police said the suspect has a history of violent behavior toward law enforcement and multiple active warrants. An ambulance transported him to King County Jail under armed escort.
The Homicide and Assault Unit is investigating the case.
