A deadly crash in Everett on Tuesday evening claimed the life of a man and left a woman and child injured, according to the Everett Police Department (EPD).

Authorities said the incident happened in the 3800 block of South 3rd Avenue. Everett Fire reported receiving a call around 7:35 p.m. about a collision on northbound I-5 near 41st Street.

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) stated that the vehicle left the off-ramp and ended up on South 3rd Avenue. Investigators also noted that the crash caused the engine block to detach, which may have sparked a brush fire moments later.

The Washington State Department of Transportation posted about the crash on X at 8:10 p.m. Emergency responders transported the woman and child to a hospital for treatment, though their conditions have not yet been released.

Road closures were put in place for the I-5 on-ramp from 41st Street and along South 3rd Avenue between 41st and Smith Avenue. Those roads have since reopened.

WSP is leading the investigation, and police say the case remains active with no further details currently available.
