Seattle police have arrested a man suspected of carrying out more than 20 bank robberies across Seattle and King County, bringing an end to a months-long investigation.

According to authorities, the 42-year-old suspect began his string of robberies in January, targeting at least 15 banks in Seattle alone. His method involved passing a note demanding cash while disguising his identity with a mask and glasses.

A breakthrough in the case came when the Seattle Police Department’s (SPD) Latent Print Unit matched the suspect’s fingerprints to evidence from one of the robberies. Acting on this lead, robbery detectives received information on March 17 regarding the suspect’s whereabouts.

Following several hours of surveillance, officers from the Robbery and Gun Violence Reduction Units spotted the suspect walking in the 13000 block of 15th Avenue Northeast. With assistance from North Precinct patrol officers, police moved in and arrested him without incident.

The suspect was transported to Seattle Police Headquarters, where robbery detectives and FBI agents interviewed him. He was later booked into King County Jail on suspicion of robbery, with additional charges expected as investigations by Seattle and other law enforcement agencies continue.
