Two teenagers were shot in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District on Tuesday afternoon in what investigators believe was a drive-by shooting, police said.

The shooting occurred near the intersection of Sixth Avenue South and South Jackson Street. Both victims, who are relatives, were transported to hospital following the incident. A 16-year-old is in serious condition, while a 19-year-old man is in stable condition, according to Seattle Fire.

Investigators say the two were shot by someone driving past the location. No suspect or vehicle description has been released, and it remains unclear whether the shooter knew the victims or what the motive may have been. Officers spoke with witnesses at the scene and are searching for surveillance footage. Crews were observed collecting approximately 10 shell casings from the area.

The scene has since been cleared and traffic in the area has returned to normal. The investigation remains ongoing.
