An 8-year-old girl and a 76-year-old woman were injured in a drive-by shooting at Be’er Sheva Park in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighborhood on the evening of Thursday, May 1, 2025.

According to the Seattle Police Department (SPD), the incident occurred around 7:07 p.m. when a vehicle traveling on Seward Park Avenue South stopped and fired multiple shots into the park.

The 8-year-old girl suffered a gunshot wound to the jaw. Her family transported her to Valley Regional Hospital. The 76-year-old woman sustained a minor injury and sought assistance at a nearby Seattle Fire Department station.

As of now, no suspects are in custody, and the investigation is ongoing.

Be’er Sheva Park, a 25.5-acre waterfront park located in the Rainier Beach neighborhood, has recently undergone significant renovations to enhance its amenities and accessibility. The park is a popular gathering place for community members, offering scenic views of Lake Washington and facilities such as a children’s play area, picnic tables, and restrooms.

This incident adds to the growing concerns about gun violence in the Rainier Beach area. Community leaders and residents have been actively working to address safety issues through various programs and initiatives aimed at preventing youth violence and promoting public safety.

Anyone with information about the shooting is urged to contact the Seattle Police Department’s Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000.
