An 83-year-old woman was fatally struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run incident on Monday morning in Seattle’s SODO neighborhood. The driver fled the scene, prompting an active investigation by the Seattle Police Department.

The collision occurred around 7:45 a.m. at the intersection of 4th Avenue South and South Spokane Street. According to authorities, the victim was walking westbound in the crosswalk when an SUV making a right turn struck her. The driver did not stop and continued driving away from the scene.

Emergency responders arrived promptly, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was cordoned off for several hours as the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS) conducted a thorough examination.
