A Seattle police officer was hospitalized with minor injuries Tuesday afternoon following a collision with a King County Metro bus in the SODO district.

The crash occurred around 1:45 p.m. near South Holgate Street and the SODO Busway, just south of T-Mobile Park. The officer was responding to an emergency call when the collision happened, according to Seattle police.

The officer sustained minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital for evaluation. No bus passengers required medical attention, and no other injuries were reported.

The patrol vehicle suffered heavy damage and was towed from the scene after being rendered inoperable by the impact.

The intersection sits in a busy area of SODO that sees heavy traffic from both emergency vehicles and Metro transit routes serving the stadium district and industrial areas south of downtown Seattle.

Police are reviewing the circumstances that led to the collision. No further details about the emergency call or the crash have been released.
