A driver suspected of DUI was arrested on Highway 18 after a high-speed pursuit over Snoqualmie Pass ended when the vehicle ran out of gas, with a child safely recovered from the car.

Washington State Patrol received reports of a vehicle driving erratically on westbound I-90, with witnesses describing speeds exceeding 90 mph, passing cars on the shoulder, and drifting across lanes. A trooper tracked the vehicle as it continued west over Snoqualmie Pass.

The chase ended when the car ran out of gas. The trooper found the vehicle stranded on the shoulder of westbound Highway 18 near the Tiger Mountain summit. The driver faces charges of DUI, reckless driving, and reckless endangerment due to having a child in the vehicle during the drive.

Authorities confirmed the child is safe and the vehicle has been impounded.
