A double homicide at a Burien apartment complex left a mother and another woman dead while sending a third victim to the hospital in critical condition Monday night.

Emergency responders arrived at the Montrose Apartments on the 200 block of S 152nd Street around 9:30 p.m. September 8, discovering the victims of what investigators describe as a stabbing incident. The King County Sheriff’s Office confirmed all three victims were found at the scene.

The attack occurred inside a third-floor unit, where investigators spent more than 18 hours collecting evidence before clearing the scene Tuesday afternoon.

Family members identified one victim as Yaneth Gómez Hernández, a 33-year-old mother who worked at a local fish market. Relatives described her as “loving, hard-working, caring, and quiet.” Gómez Hernández leaves behind an 8-year-old son currently living with his grandmother in Guatemala.

The second deceased victim was also a woman, though authorities have not confirmed her identity. Sources suggest she may have been Hernández’s roommate.

A male victim found outside the building with stab wounds remains hospitalized at Harborview Medical Center in critical condition. Medical officials have not provided updates on his status.

The investigation forced building-wide evacuations for two days before residents received clearance to return Tuesday around 4 p.m. Crime scene tape surrounded the complex throughout the investigation period.

The violence unsettled neighboring residents. Gerald Gonzales, who lives nearby, called the incident “disturbing.” Hanny Ramos, a resident of another building in the complex, expressed confusion and fear about the circumstances.

Despite the severity of the crimes, investigators have not announced an active search for suspects. The Sheriff’s Office maintains there is no ongoing public safety threat.

The case remains under investigation as authorities work to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal attack.
