Seattle police have arrested a 43-year-old motorcyclist in connection with a deadly hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a pedestrian in South Seattle. The arrest comes after multiple community tips helped detectives track down both the suspect and the motorcycle involved.

The Seattle Police Department (SPD) confirmed the arrest on Monday afternoon, crediting vigilant residents and the work of the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad (TCIS). The suspect was transported to Harborview Medical Center for an unrelated medical condition and is expected to be booked into King County Jail for investigation of vehicular homicide, vehicular assault, and felony hit-and-run.

The incident occurred around 8:20 p.m. on April 18, 2025, near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Way South and South Alaska Street. Responding officers found two pedestrians—a 59-year-old man and a 57-year-old woman—who had been struck by a red motorcycle while crossing the street in a marked crosswalk.

Seattle Fire Department crews provided immediate care at the scene. The man was transported to Harborview Medical Center in stable condition, while the woman, who suffered severe head trauma, was listed in critical condition. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries on April 20.

Investigators revealed that the motorcycle, a red 1988–1999 Honda Goldwing GL1500, was seen fleeing the area southbound on MLK Way. The motorcyclist abandoned the scene before police arrived.

In a significant development, detectives recovered key images from a nearby Metro bus camera that captured the motorcycle in the vicinity. These visuals were instrumental in identifying the vehicle involved.

Seattle police are urging anyone who may still have information related to the collision to contact the Traffic Collision Investigation Squad at 206-684-8923. Community assistance continues to be vital in solving hit-and-run cases, and SPD emphasized their gratitude to those who stepped forward with information.

The investigation remains active as authorities work to prepare charges and finalize details surrounding the fatal incident.
