Seattle police have arrested a 25-year-old man in connection with a double homicide that occurred early Sunday morning in the Rainier Beach neighborhood.

According to authorities, officers responded to reports of gunfire around 3:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South, where they found a security guard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. While providing medical aid, officers discovered a second victim, a young man, who had sustained a fatal gunshot wound to the head.

Seattle Fire Department personnel arrived at the scene and pronounced the second victim dead. The injured security guard was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

Detectives from the Homicide, Video, and Crime Scene Investigation Units processed the scene while police launched a search for the suspect. The 25-year-old suspect fled the area before officers arrived but was located and taken into custody Sunday morning. He has been booked into the King County Jail on two counts of investigation of murder.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Authorities urge anyone with information to call 911 or the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000. Anonymous tips are welcome.
