Seattle police have arrested a suspect in connection with a fatal shooting that left two people dead in the parking lot of a hookah lounge in the Rainier Beach neighborhood early Sunday morning.

Authorities responded to reports of gunfire around 3:30 a.m. in the 9200 block of Rainier Avenue South. Upon arrival, officers discovered a security guard suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. As they provided medical assistance, they found a second victim, a young man, who had been shot in the head.

Seattle Fire Department personnel pronounced the young man dead at the scene. The security guard was transported to Harborview Medical Center in critical condition but later succumbed to his injuries.

Police secured the area while detectives from the Homicide Unit, Crime Scene Investigation Unit, and Video Unit processed evidence. The 25-year-old suspect had fled before law enforcement arrived but was later apprehended on Sunday morning. He has since been booked into the King County Jail on two counts of investigation of murder.

The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with relevant information to contact 911 or the Violent Crimes Tip Line at (206) 233-5000.
