A 24-year-old Texas man has been sentenced to 10 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to a string of violent ATM-related bank robberies carried out across the United States, including multiple attacks on repair technicians in Washington state.

Seth Coles-Body, of Houston, was sentenced Tuesday in the US District Court in Seattle after pleading guilty in February 2026 to four counts of bank robbery and two counts of attempted bank robbery. Prosecutors said Coles-Body and his accomplice Ahmon Hogg, 23, of Humble, Texas, operated a scheme in which they disabled ATMs and then ambushed the repair technicians sent to fix them, using threats, intimidation, and physical violence to steal cash containers known as cassettes.

US District Judge James L. Robart was blunt in his assessment at sentencing. “This conduct was driven by greed and an appetite for money without considering the overall community,” Robart said. Assistant US Attorney Amanda McDowell, who prosecuted the case, described the robberies as calculated and without remorse. “These were hands-on robberies carried out with violence and intimidation. No place in the country was off limits, and this was fun for him. There was no remorse. This was a source of pride and celebration,” McDowell said. First Assistant US Attorney Charles Neil Floyd added that Coles-Body “used increasing violence as time went on. Even after several law enforcement encounters, he never slowed down; instead, he celebrated his robberies on social media.”

The pair’s crime spree stretched across at least six states over a period of several months. In Washington, the men targeted Bank of America ATMs in Renton on 23 December 2024, the day before Christmas Eve, when machines are typically loaded with extra cash for the holiday. A technician confronted in Renton escaped after a scuffle when he refused to open the machine. The following day in Vancouver, Washington, they ambushed a technician and seized five cash cassettes before fleeing. They also disabled a Bank of America ATM in Battle Ground, Washington, the same day.

In January 2025, Phoenix law enforcement caught the pair attempting to rob an ATM they had already disabled, and officers stopped them at the scene. Despite the encounter, the robberies continued. In March 2025, Coles-Body and Hogg rushed an ATM repair technician at a Bank of America in Redmond, Washington, stealing cash canisters as the machine was open. Days later, US Border Patrol stopped Coles-Body carrying approximately $209,000 in cash, which was seized before he was released.

The violence escalated as the spree continued. In May 2025 in Houston, Coles-Body rushed a Wells Fargo repair technician, causing injuries, and the pair stole approximately $117,000 before abandoning their vehicle. In June 2025, they travelled to Oregon, disabling ATMs in Tigard and Hillsboro and robbing a customer at a separate machine. From Oregon they drove to Maine, where on 30 June 2025 they beat a Bank of America technician in South Portland and stole $47,000. The pair was ultimately arrested during a traffic stop in Jackson, Mississippi, where officers found stolen firearms and significant amounts of cash in their vehicle.

FBI Seattle Special Agent in Charge W. Mike Herrington said the pair carried out “a series of increasingly brazen and violent robberies across the United States” and “badly injured repair technicians just trying to do their jobs and stole hundreds of thousands of dollars.” Total victim losses have been determined at $768,900, and both men have agreed to pay restitution. Coles-Body will serve three years of supervised release following his prison term. The sentencing resolves cases across Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Texas, Maine, and Mississippi.
