A violent armed robbery occurred in South Seattle, resulting in the shooting and injury of a man and a woman. The incident took place near Beacon Avenue South and South Fletcher Street, an area that has seen a recent uptick in violent crimes. According to reports from FOX 13 Seattle and confirmation from the Seattle Police Department, the victims were sitting inside their vehicle when they were approached by a male suspect demanding money.

When the victims refused to comply, the situation quickly escalated. The suspect pistol-whipped the woman before opening fire on the vehicle. Gunshots struck both occupants— the woman sustained a graze wound to her arm, while the man was shot in the leg. Emergency medical services responded promptly to the scene, providing initial treatment before transporting both individuals to a nearby hospital. As of the latest update, both victims are expected to survive their injuries.

The suspect fled the scene on foot before police arrived, and remains at large. The Seattle Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has launched an active investigation and is urging anyone with information to contact the Violent Crimes Tip Line at 206-233-5000. Authorities have not yet released a detailed description of the suspect, and no arrests have been made at this time.

This latest incident is part of a disturbing trend of violent crimes in South Seattle. Just three days earlier, on May 20, 2025, a separate robbery occurred in which a 71-year-old woman was pistol-whipped and shot during a home invasion in the same general area. That victim was hospitalized in serious but stable condition. Police are currently searching for two suspects connected to that earlier crime, which they believe may be related due to similarities in the method and level of violence involved.

Residents in South Seattle are expressing growing concern over public safety in the area. Local law enforcement has increased patrols and is encouraging community members to remain alert and to report any suspicious activity immediately. As investigations continue, city officials are facing mounting pressure to address the rise in gun violence and implement more robust public safety measures.

Anyone with relevant information about either incident is strongly encouraged to contact Seattle Police. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the department’s crime tip line or online portal.

This incident highlights the increasing urgency of addressing violent crime in Seattle neighborhoods and reinforces the importance of community vigilance and law enforcement cooperation.
